Tigers Academy v Leeds Carnegie Academy

Headingley Stadium, Saturday, March 8, kick-off 1pm

Leicester Tigers Academy continued their impressive run of form with a hard-fought 10–7 victory away at Leeds Carnegie U18s on Saturday afternoon, showing composure and discipline in difficult conditions as they prepare to face England Under-18s next weekend.

Tigers struck early through Matt Everard, who finished well after sustained pressure inside the Leeds 22, giving the visitors a narrow advantage against a strong second-half wind. Rickie Aley added the conversion and later slotted a penalty to keep the scoreboard ticking as Tigers were forced to defend for long periods after the break.

Leeds responded with increased intensity in the second half, using the conditions well and building pressure through their tight phase play. Their persistence was rewarded when Ollie Stedman crossed for a try from close range, with Adam Greendale adding the conversion to narrow the gap to three points.

Despite the late pressure, Tigers showed maturity beyond their years, managing territory intelligently and defending resolutely in the closing stages. Strong work at the breakdown and a composed kicking game allowed the visitors to close out the match and secure another valuable academy victory.

Attention now turns to next weekend’s fixture against England Under-18s at Welford Road, where Tigers Academy will look to continue their strong form.
